File Under: Just Not Getting It (apparently)

One of the dumbest and self-righteous things done to influence the American vote came from the British paper The Guardian. They embarked on a letter writing campaign to voters in Ohio urging them to vote for Kerry.

If they had any sense they would have known that their appeals would fall on deaf ears. For all their gassing about America interfering in the business of other countries they certainly did not reflect on what they were attempting to do amounted to the same.

They were rightly ridiculed for their self-righteous presumption that somehow the standard they hold America up to does not apply to them. Besides everyone knows you can't tell Americans what to do, especially how to vote. Foolish, just downright foolish.

To be sure America has become a source of major concern, but that does not excuse the arrogance that says somehow we know better. After all isn't that what Bush is saying and doesn't it just stick in the craw? So, a new mode of communication and persuasion is needed. This tit for tat will not do.
